Bethesda Softworks is holding a 24 hour sale on its website to help contribute to Australian fire relief. Bethesda is a huge name in the world of video game publishing, and releases games from Bethesda Game Studios, ZeniMax Online Studios, and id Software. The company is most well known as the publisher of the Fallout and Elder Scrolls series of games.

Bush fire season in Australia has been particularly bad this year. Currently around 10.6 million hectares of land have been destroyed by the fires. Those fires have also killed at least 32 people and destroyed thousands of homes. At the moment almost one billion animals have died as a result of the flames or loss of habitat and food sources. While there has currently been a stretch of cool and damp weather, officials are very concerned that high temperatures and drier weather will return very soon, which could potentially start more fires.

Bethesda announced on Twitter that there would be sales on both Bethesda.net and the Humble Store in order collect money for the relief effort. All Bethesda Games on both sites will be offered at a 33% discount to entice players to purchase them. All net proceeds of this sale will be going to the Australian Red Cross. On top of this Bethesda is also selling a Fallout themed T-Shirt for $25 that fans can purchase. The proceeds from this shirt will be given to the Australian Salvation Army. The sale will begin on January 30th at 10am.

Several big names have decided to help out with Australian relief efforts in the last several months. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Chris Hemsworth ,and Kylie Jenner have all donated money to help with relief efforts. Jenner’s donation comes with controversy, but she nevertheless sent one million dollars in relief funds. On top of these donations there are also the efforts that the Irwin family have engaged in over the last several months. The family of the late Steve Irwin has rescued over 90,000 animals that have been impacted by the fires.

These bush fires in Australia are some of the worst that the country has ever experienced. With the amount of damage that has been done, it will take countless millions to get Australia back to normal. Bethesda seems to at least be doing its part to help out. While this sale may not fix Australia, hopefully it will inspire other large companies to do what they can. If fans have the extra money this may be the best time to make a purchase from Bethesda.
