The love stories on Beverly Hills, 90210 often propel the plot forward, with the Kelly/Dylan/Brenda love triangle from the first few seasons allowing Brenda (Shannen Doherty) to really find herself. Even though there are many couples on the ’90s teen drama that fans would consider iconic and classic, there are a lot of other characters who could have started seeing one another.

With so many characters over ten seasons, there are many relationships that could have been successful. The following 10 couples would have been perfectly logical on Beverly Hills, 90210, even if they did never get together.

Donna And Steve

Donna Martin (Tori Spelling) and David Silver (Brian Austin Green) are an accepted couple for most of the time that 90210 was on the air. But what about Donna and Steve Sanders (Ian Ziering)? Although fans might not ship these two since they never get together, it does make sense for them to date.

At the beginning of the series, both of these characters are kind of on the outskirts of the main friend group. Kelly Taylor (Jenni Garth) and Brenda are given a lot more screen time than Donna, and Brandon Walsh (Jason Priestley) and Dylan McKay (Luke Perry) are considered the 90210 heartthrobs. But Steve is sweet and adorable, and he and Donna would be a good couple. They’ve both lived in Beverly Hills their entire lives and can relate to each other since they don’t have the best family lives.

Brenda And David

What if Donna and David had never fallen in love… and David had dated Brenda instead? It’s pretty wild to think about but it could actually work.

David is generally a good person (with some hiccups along the way, but hey, he’s a teenager and he’s learning), and he would be a lot better for Brenda than Dylan, as although they are madly in love, he does cheat on her with Kelly and things feel very overwhelming and toxic. She could have a regular romance with David, one that doesn’t involve Kelly at all, and perhaps she would have been so happy that she would have stayed in Beverly Hills (ignoring the well-known fact that Shannen Doherty was kicked off the show).

Donna And Brandon

Another two Beverly Hills, 90210 characters who could have been a great pair are Donna and Brandon. They are both the nicest characters on the show and they’re both loyal people who would do anything for their friends. They each have many love interests over the course of the series, but they would make a lot of sense as a couple.

Donna and Brandon are so kind and good-natured that they often struggle with those personality traits in their other relationships. They would work well together because they just want to help others and they would understand each other.

Noah And Brenda

Noah Hunter (Vincent Young) and Brenda would be an amazing couple. It’s definitely wishful thinking since Brenda leaves after the fourth season and he appears in the eighth, ninth, and ten seasons, but they seem like they would really like each other.

Both characters are strong-willed and seem to want to move beyond their family units. Noah comes from a super-rich background but he doesn’t want people to know who he is, and Brenda cares about her brother and parents but makes no secret of the fact that she finds their Midwestern ways a bit dull.

Janet And Brandon

Janet Sosna (Lindsay Price) and Steve may get married and have a daughter together and they are a sweet pair. If they had never gotten together, though, it seems like Janet would be a perfect love interest for Brandon.

Brandon has such a calm personality and seems like the most grown-up person in the friend group, so it wouldn’t be crazy to imagine him getting married and starting a family before the other characters. It’s actually strange that it was Steve instead. It would make total sense for Brandon and Janet to get engaged and have a baby, and it would be nice to see him get a happily ever after.

Emily And Steve

Emily Valentine (Christine Elise) is a toxic match for Brandon during their time together, and it’s a lot to handle. While Emily has a crush on Dylan and they do start seeing each other, what would it have been like if she was in a relationship with Steve?

It feels like Steve would be attracted to her as she’s an interesting person with a fiery personality. While she does struggle a lot throughout her high school years, maybe Steve would be able to inspire her to get back on track. Or maybe there would be just as much drama… but that would motivate Steve to grow up a bit faster than he does.

Clare And Dylan

Clare Arnold (Kathleen Robertson) is in relationships with Steve and David throughout the show, and although she has a big crush on Brandon and they almost start dating, their relationship never really gets off the ground.

It would make sense for Clare to date Dylan as they’re both confident people and they seem to have the same kind of personality. Steve and David never seemed like good love interests for Clare as she’s got a lot of spunk and she seems like a troublemaker, and they seem so dull in comparison. Dylan would understand this aspect of her personality, though, and maybe they could help each other grow up.

Dylan And Andrea

Andrea Zuckerman (Gabrielle Carteris) may have her sights set on Brandon at the beginning of Beverly Hills, 90210 but she would actually be a good match for Dylan.

Both Andrea and Dylan are super smart, perhaps even the smartest characters on the show, and it seems like they would have a really compelling relationship. Their dates for last for hours as they could talk about everything under the sun, and she could help him find some more zest for life and an actual work ethic.

Donna And Matt

Matt Durning (Daniel Cosgrove) and Kelly are in a super-serious relationship, even going so far as to get engaged, although that doesn’t work out because he leaves California for New York because of a family tragedy. But what if instead of falling for Kelly, Matt had fallen for Donna?

They’re friendly with each other, so it seems like they get along, and perhaps there would have been a lot less drama. Maybe Donna would have even moved to New York with Matt, which would have been interesting to see.

Brandon And Gina

Gina Kincaid (Vanessa Marcil) is actually Donna’s half-sister, not her cousin, which gets pretty complicated. She dates Dylan during her time in Beverly Hills, and they’re not exactly a favorite couple as they seem pretty bad for each other.

Instead, it would have made a lot of sense for Brandon and Gina to date. She needs someone like him who has a good heart and who could help her heal from all of her family drama. She’s also pretty spunky, which would be good for Brandon as he needs to leave his comfort zone a bit more.
