Big Brother’s Isabella Wang rejects claims of other houseguests being racist as a conscious act, as she chalks it up to just being apart of the game. Although many fans and housemates might disagree with her sentiments, she insists that Big Brother is just a game and needs to be treated as such.
Isabella was the center some of the most dramatic and emotionally charged moments of the season, but her time in the Big Brother house ended when she was evicted by her housemates. Isabella had a rough time in the game, forming and breaking friendships and alliances almost as quickly as she made them. She had very public arguments with both Kemi Fakule and Nicole Anthony. Even though Bella was one of the original members of the dominant Gr8ful alliance, she ended up on the outs. On top of all of this, fans were listening in on the live feed as she was being attacked with racist remarks behind her back, made by castmate Jack Matthews.
The situation that went on unbeknownst to her was when Jack responding to another comment of a racist comment aimed at Bella. She was evicted from the Big Brother house at day 37, and she recently sat down with AfterBuzz TV, where she was interviewed by JC Mounduix about her journey on Big Brother 21 - specifically what she made of all the racist remarks that happened to both her and some other castmates. She said, “I was very shocked when I found out.”
Bella, who had lived in the Big Brother house just over a month had said that she did notice that “there was so many racial undertones” in the house. She did, however, express that she didn’t take it as personally as some of her other castmates, saying, “I don’t really believe that the other houseguests feel like… I think it was really coincidental and I think it is very unfortunate.” She feels that most of the remarks were merely casual and it shouldn’t be taken to heart, adding that she understands how America could have taken these remarks out of context, but “from our point of view, we’re really not there to target anyone else. We’re there to play our own game.”
It seems like Bella is taking a different stand on the racist remarks that were spoken about her in the Big Brother house. She seems to have no ill will about the remarks and instead find her castmates being painted in that light to be rather unfortunate. Season 21 has been one of the most controversial seasons Big Brother has ever seen, and fans will have to wait and see if the culture in the house has changed since both Jack and certain producers were spoken to about racism and stereotyping.
