A new Bill & Ted Face The Music set photo emerges from the third installment in the Bill & Ted franchise, and it shows a very different side of Keanu Reeves. The star of John Wick and The Matrix, known for being effortlessly cool, will be going for another kind of vibe as he returns to the role of Ted Logan.

A follow-up to Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, which was released all the way back in 1991, Face The Music was officially announced in 2018. The science fiction comedy films have focused on Ted and his friend Bill (Alex Winter) as two slackers with a rock band. Things aren’t going well for the pair at first. Though, unbeknownst to them, their music serves as the basis for a utopian society. With help, and a time machine that doubles as a phone booth, Bill and Ted have to make sure they correct the course of their lives by finishing high school and keeping the band together so that the utopian society can become a reality. The sequel upped the stakes, with Bill and Ted travelling to Hell and coming face to face with none other than Death.

Face The Music might prove to be weirder yet. In an Instagram post by ET Canada, Reeves is seen sporting an entirely new and unconventional look. With backcombed hair, sides shaved, with both his waist and his nipples visible, Ted is either under an impressively elaborate disguise or maybe his sense of style has simply evolved in the years after Bogus Journey. It’s one of the first photos to emerge since filming began in July, but some plot details and casting information is already known.

Going through the motions of middle-aged life, Bill and Ted will receive a warning that the future of the universe depends on their ability to create a new song. Well-known actors like Jillian Bell, Anthony Carrigan, Beck Bennett, Kristen Schaal and Holland Taylor will all appear in the film. Additionally, it was announced William Sadler will return to the role of Death. The third installment will also feature Samara Weaving and Brigette Lundy-Paine as the daughters of the central duo.

The comedy gained a huge following when it first came out in 1989 and in the years since. Several related properties have been created, including animated and live-action TV shows and even a musical. With its cult following and cultural footprint, Bill and Ted Face The Music will be looking to add to the franchise’s legacy.
