Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey has been well received by fans and critics, and some people are already looking to the sequel. The official team currently has three exceptional members in The Question, Black Canary and The Huntress, who have all only just teamed up together.
While there are plenty of characters we want to see in the sequel, only some of them would be qualified to join the ranks of the team. Here are 10 characters that we think should be added to the Birds of Prey if a second film gets made.
OVERWATCH
The Arrowverse introduced us to Felicity, who served as Overwatch. Although she’s somewhat of a ripoff of Oracle, this has always been her main role and she’s excellent at it. It’s time the character was brought in elsewhere.
If the DCEU was to get a Batgirl, then someone else has to serve as the voice. Overwatch is an established Bird of Prey that could fill that role very well and help the team through some difficult situations from her position of intelligence.
ORACLE
Oracle has been a mainstay of the team for some time. When Barbara Gordon was paralyzed, she did the next best thing to help out the team, and that was become the girl in the chair. Her advice is always perfect.
She’s great with technology and always looks out for her friends. She’s well-suited for the role and has saved the Birds of Prey on many occasions. As they continue to develop as a team, Oracle would be very useful for this DCEU version.
BATGIRL
Although Oracle would be a great role for Gordon, Batgirl would fit even better into this universe. A Bat Family has already been established, and it’s obvious that Cassandra Cain won’t become the version of Batgirl that she’s supposed to be.
Batgirl feels like the missing element in this team. There needs to be an established crime fighter who can help the other women on missions. Plus, Batgirl’s detective skills would match very well with those of the Question.
POISON IVY
With Poison Ivy likely teaming up with Harley Quinn in the future, it would be fun to have her also join the Birds of Prey. During one of her heroic stints, Ivy actually joined the team for a while.
Not only is her personality such a contrast to the others, but her criminal background, unique power set, as well as completely different motivations would all contribute to some fascinating character interactions. She seems like a great fit.
KATANA
Katana has been introduced into the DCEU, so it wouldn’t be that surprising to see the character brought over to this franchise. The weird thing is that her magical sword hasn’t really been used that much so far.
However, in this heightened world of canary cries and other strange powers, Katana might be able to shine as part of the team. Plus, her stoic nature would make a good contrast to some of the more enthusiastic members of the team.
LADY BLACKHAWK
Lady Blackhawk is a slightly less famous character from the comics, but she’s actually been part of the Birds of Prey for some time — she even came up with the name itself. She’s a former pilot and has a number of useful tactical skills.
Asides from her cool costume, unique attitude and the fact she’s starred in some great, Birds of Prey stories, she would fit well into the team as a normal, non-powered human who can still beat villain and take names.
DOVE
Dove made her live-action debut on TV already, and aside from not sticking around for very long, she actually adapted really easily. Not only is she a member of the team in the comics along with her partner, Hawk, but she also meets the birds theme.
She’s a powerful vigilante with a strong heart, although much like her more brutal partner, she solves a lot of problems with her fists. She’s a slightly troubled misfit who could find a place on this team with or without Hawk.
WHITE CANARY
Although she is also a product of the Arrowverse, White Canary could be an interesting fit for the team. Sara Lance is a well developed character who has appeared in the Birds of Prey on TV.
This would be a cool connection between the universes, and it can give the character a different origin again. It would also vary the team slightly and can add an extra martial artist into the mix.
HAWKGIRL
Hawkgirl is possibly being added to the DCEU, and it makes sense to introduce her in the Birds of Prey. She’s been a member of the team in the past, and her mystical background brings something quite unique to the table.
Since she is constantly reincarnated, this will also keep the team alive for years to come as she can be treated as a constant member who knows how teamwork like this operates. Plus, her personality would really fit in well with the rest.
STARLING
Starling is another bird-themed hero with a bit of a darkness. When she first joined the team, she was a useful ally although there was something a little off about her. She’d serve an important role in the DCEU.
Starling is the traitor of the team. We could totally see her giving the others up to a big villain. In the comics, it’s Mister Freeze she sides with, who is rumored to be played by Peter Capaldi. Perhaps this can be reimagined in live-action with these characters.
