DC Universe subscribers will have a chance to see Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) early with advanced screenings. Warner Bros. and DC Films are days away from the launch of the latest DC movie, which features the long-awaited return of Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn to the big screen. Picking up after the events of Suicide Squad, the movie continues Harley’s story as she’s left Jared Leto’s Joker and forms a new team of female DC heroes, who will become known as the Birds of Prey.

With the star power of Robbie’s Harley Quinn leading Birds of Prey, the ensemble nature of the film will introduce audiences to Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell), Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez), and Cassandra Cain (Ella Jay Basco). These women will join forces to take down Black Mask (Ewan McGregor), and the trailers have shown fans just how fun this R-rated adventure could be. As a result, Birds of Prey is one of the most anticipated movies of 2020 for many and some now have a chance to see it even sooner.

Warner Bros. announced today that early fan screenings of Birds of Prey are happening for those who are subscribed to DC Universe. The screenings will take place on Tuesday, February 4 and Wednesday, February 5 in 30 select cities across the United States. DC Universe subscribers will be notified on January 31 about the screenings and sent a link to RSVP to one of the possible showings. Those eager to see Birds of Prey early who are not yet DC Universe subscribers can take advantage of this opportunity by subscribing to the service ahead of the screenings.

This represents a change in WB and DC’s approach to early fan screenings, which have become common for them as of late. Both Aquaman and Shazam! were given early showings, but they happened earlier, were in more cities, and did not require a DC Universe subscription to attend. But, in the age of the streaming wars, the companies are smartly incorporating the service into the ability to see DC movies early. Whether or not this is their new strategy for all future fan screenings remains to be seen though.

Of course, the arrival of Birds of Prey fan screenings will mean that there is a greater potential for spoilers to surface early for those who are not able to attend. Anyone who is worried about seeing spoilers might be best avoiding the internet for a few days. With the film said to have no direct connections to Suicide Squad and possibly the larger DC universe, Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) could be a relatively closed story that may not even lend itself to major spoilers anyway.
