New set photos from Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) show Margot Robbie in a car chase as the film wraps up reshoots. The upcoming Warner Bros. and DC outing is directed by Cathy Yan and written by Christina Hodson. Along with the incredible female powerhouses that are working behind the camera, the film also has an all-star cast that includes Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya, Ella Jay Basco as young Cassandra Cain, Ewan McGregor as Black Mask, Chris Messina as Victor Zsasz, and Robbie who’s making her triumphant return to her Harley Quinn role.
Birds of Prey is set to be the next installment in the DC Extended Universe. Even though the Joaquin Phoenix-led Joker film is the next DC production to hit theaters, it takes place in a different universe from the DCEU, meaning that it won’t hold any current connection to the DCEU movies. Even if its release is still months away, Birds of Prey has already garnered plenty of attention with its all-star cast and clever marketing. Though an official trailer is yet to make its debut to the world, fans have gotten plenty of sneak peeks at what’s to come through snappy teaser trailers and a splashy new poster. There have also been plenty of set photos for fans to dig into and speculate on, and the more recent set photos show that the film appears to have officially wrapped on its reshoots.
Birds of Prey movie updates shared a thread of set photos on Twitter that feature Robbie’s Harley Quinn working on stunts for a car chase in the film. They feature Quinn jumping from Huntress’ motorcycle to a car that could very well be Black Mask’s if fans were to connect these shots with previous set photos. There’s no doubt that Robbie looks like she’s having the time of her life while performing these stunts as well. Check out the photos below:
It was announced back in August that the film would be going through reshoots with the help of Chad Stahelski, the director and stuntman for John Wick. Stahelski has worked with the film since production began but was brought on again to help design new action sequences for the film and oversee second unit photography. These new sequences could certainly be what Robbie is working on in the photos above, and considering how happy she looks in them, they must be a blast to work on.
Reshoots are incredibly common in big-budget films, even though the term itself has a tendency to carry a negative connotation. It’s normal for fans to wonder how the end product of a highly-anticipated feature will turn out following an announcement of reshoots. But, based on Robbie’s joyful expression in these set photos, it looks like things are going well as the film wraps production. With Birds of Prey wrapping up, Robbie is most likely going to remain in her iconic Harley Quinn attire as she makes her way over to James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad next.
