Daniel Kaluuya’s Black Panther costars decided to have some fun with the actor, following his breakout performance in this year’s horror film hit, Get Out. The latter movie is the feature directorial debut of Key & Peele co-creator Jordan Peele and hit theaters back in February; capturing the attention of filmgoers with its unique, racially-charged take on the horror genre. Made on a modest - for Hollywood - budget of only $4.5 million, Get Out debuted in the #1 spot at the domestic box office, and has gone on to earn nearly $180 million worldwide.

Any way one slices it, Get Out has become quite the success story for Peele, production company Blumhouse and distributing studio Universal, alike. When the online popularity of Get Out was at its peak, a social media fad known as the “Get Out Challenge” was created, in which the scene where Walter (Marcus Henderson) scares the crap out of lead character Chris (Kaluuya) in the middle of the night by running straight at him at top speed - only to swerve to the side at the last minute - is reenacted.

While the Get Out Challenge has mostly faded out of the spotlight at this point, that didn’t stop the Black Panther movie cast and crew (which count Kaluuya amongst their ranks) from having some fun by reenacting Walter’s famous run. This time though, there’s an added twist, as Kaluuya - naturally, being on the Black Panther set at the time - is around to reenact his own role as the freaked-out target of his co-workers’ sprinting rampage. The notoriety associated with the role of Chris will likely stay with Kaluuya for quite some time. While he’s been acting regularly for over a decade - mostly in his native UK - his leading performance in Get Out served to introduce his talents to millions of moviegoers that may have been unaware of his previous work, before sitting down in their local theater earlier this year. Of course, following Get Out up with a blockbuster like Black Panther will only continue to raise his stock in Hollywood.

Black Panther is set to be only the first of three huge additions to the MCU family in 2018, when it arrives next February. The hotly-anticipated Avengers: Infinity War blasts into theaters in May thereafter, followed by the July release of Ant-Man and the Wasp, a sequel to 2015’s Ant-Man that sees Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang/Ant-Man share headlining responsibilities with Evangeline Lilly’s Hope Van Dyne/Wasp.
