It takes a special kind of superhero to also be a beloved king, but for a man like Black Panther, it’s just something you’re born with. But anyone who thought he was above his feud with Deadpool is in for a rude awakening, since Black Panther and the Agents of Wakanda is giving him the revenge he’s been waiting for.

As king of an African nation facing threats all his own, Marvel fans tend to think of Black Panther as something of a lone wolf. But the current world of Marvel Comics has changed all that, installing Black Panther as leader of the Avengers, as well as overseeing his Agents of Wakanda, the successor to S.H.I.E.L.D.. And while the team has taken on some outlandish enemies already, even they may not be prepared for a fighter like Wade Wilson. But in the official preview for Black Panther and the Agents of Wakanda #5, that’s exactly who they’re picking a fight with.

For those who may have missed the pair’s epic dust-up in the pages of Black Panther vs. Deadpool, it’s enough to say that Wade Wilson is uniquely gifted at getting under King T’Challa’s skin. So good, in fact, that he managed to make Black Panther dismember him for science and then throw him out of the country… without even feeling bad about it. From there the feud only escalated, eventually making Deadpool the new Black Panther, and stealing (then returning) all of Wakanda’s vibranium. Sore feelings last, it turns out, since Deadpool gets a surprise attack from Panther’s new teammates in Agents of Wakanda #5. Check out the official preview pages below:

While one might claim that Deadpool turning up at the same S.H.I.E.L.D. weapons cache the Agents of Wakanda are coming to decommission is a coincidence, we’re not so sure. Yes, Deadpool did try on his own version of the Black Panther suit without permission. But in the months since then T’Challa has given Captain America’s suit a Wakandan upgrade, and just recently helped She-Hulk channel a new attack. Clearly King T’Challa is playing favorites. In which case, we can’t wait for Wade to give him a piece of his mind (and likely his body, too) when the full issue arrives in stores.
