While the Black Widow may be returning to her roots in the MCU, the comic book version is in an even stranger game of cat and mouse. Because it isn’t an old friend, or an old enemy that she’s after… it’s herself. It’s the kind of story only a series like The Web of Black Widow could tell, but Natasha has finally learned the truth about her murderous doppelganger. And the answer is a woman no Marvel fan would ever expect.

Having been killed and come back in a cloned body, Natasha has had anything but an easy time since being resurrected into the Marvel Universe. So with her purpose and memory in doubt, Widow did the only thing that made any sense: track down and start killing the people and organizations that profited from her assassinations. Obviously this made her a fugitive to her former friends, with Hawkeye coming to capture her. He managed to wound her, but not long before they both discovered the identity of Natasha’s doppleganger. Forget another assassin from the Red Room program – it’s the Headmistress herself!

The revelation that it was Anya the Headmistress impersonating her concluded The Web of Black Widow #5, setting up quite a bombshell for the final issue of this series. So with Clint out cold, and Natasha bleeding out, there’s no better time for Anya to inform her most hated rival of just how long and elaborate her plan has been unfolding. Take a look at the preview pages below:

How will this chapter of Natasha’s life finally end? Where will it leave her in the days to come? And most importantly, how will she be able to tell what is truth, and what is deception or programming? Fans won’t know for sure until the full issue arrives on January 1st, but until then, read on below for the full plot synopsis and issue details below:
