Apple is apparently readying a new under-display integrated Touch ID fingerprint sensor “as early as its 2020 iPhones” next fall, according to a report today from Bloomberg. The report says it would be an addition to the existing Face ID authentication and unlock system, allowing users to authenticate with either fingerprint or face biometrics. The publication says the feature may slip to 2021. This echoes a timeframe suggested by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who said Apple would launch an iPhone with both Touch ID and Face ID in 2021....

A new Bluetooth security flaw has been discovered that would potentially allow an attacker to connect to a user device without authentication. The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG), the body responsible for Bluetooth standards, has confirmed vulnerabilities separately discovered by two teams of security researchers… The organization issued a brief statement. Apple is planning a very gradual return to work plan for its employees around the world, according to a new report from Bloomberg. The first phase will allow “staff members who can’t work remotely or are facing challenges working from home” to return to Apple offices. According to the report, the first phase has “already begun in some regions globally” and is slated to expand to other offices in late May and early June....

While recent reports have detailed talks between Apple and BMW related to Apple’s behind-the-scenes electric car project, BMW has long been one of the last major holdouts to bring Apple’s current in-dash CarPlay platform to its vehicles.
